Sales leads list software is a platform that lets a team filter a contact database by title, company attributes and signals, then export the matching people with work emails and phones as a list. The products differ on the size and source of the database, the filters, how many records you may export, and the age of the records. The export is where quality becomes measurable: across the leading platforms, 65 to 85% of exported addresses verify as deliverable, and the rest need removing before the list is used.
Three things, and the price reflects the mix. A database: how many records, from where, and how recently touched. Filters: can you select by headcount, funding, tech stack, job change, intent, or only by title and location. And export rights: how many records a month you can take out of the platform as a file, which is the number that matters for list building and the one most often buried in the contract.
The fourth thing, which is not sold but arrives anyway, is the error rate. A list builder is a snapshot of a database that decays fast, with only 19.2% of addresses still valid 90 days after verification in the BounceZero decay study for B2B contacts. The export is right on the day the record was touched; the platform does not know which records those are, and neither do you until the list is verified.
Export accuracy is the share of exported emails that verify as deliverable at export time, from the ranges BounceZero has published; vendor-reported means the vendor's own claim. Database sizes and export caps are vendor-reported and change with plan.
| Platform | Database (vendor-reported) | Standout filters | Export rights | Export email accuracy |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Apollo | 270M-plus contacts | Technographics, job change, intent, buying signals | Credit-based; export caps by plan | 70 to 82% |
| ZoomInfo | Largest enterprise contact set | Org charts, intent, scoops | Contracted credits; bulk export negotiable | Vendor-reported 90%-plus |
| Cognism | EU-strong, phone-verified mobiles | DNC screening, EU compliance | Unrestricted viewing on some plans; export credits | Vendor-reported |
| UpLead | 160M-plus contacts | Technographics, intent add-on | Credits; real-time email check on export | Vendor-reported 95% (checked at download) |
| Seamless.AI | Real-time search | Searches live rather than a static database | Credits per record found | Vendor-reported |
| Lead411 | US-focused with triggers | Funding, hiring, growth triggers | Unlimited on higher plans (vendor-reported) | Vendor-reported |
| Lusha | Community-contributed | Basic firmographics; extension-first | Credits | 70 to 80% |
| Kaspr | EU LinkedIn-based | LinkedIn-native | Credits | 75 to 85% |
| Clay | No database of its own; waterfall | Any signal you can fetch | By row, per table | 70 to 80% (find rate 80 to 92%) |
| Sales Navigator + Evaboot | LinkedIn profile graph | Best people filters anywhere; no emails | Export via third-party tool, then enrich | Depends on the finder used |
| RocketReach | Broad, includes academic and government | Basic | Lookups per month | 65 to 78% |
Sales Navigator plus an export tool is not a list-software product, but it builds more lists than most of the products on this table, because the people filters are better. It then needs enrichment and verification like any other export.
No platform tells you when each record was last touched. The verified badge is from that date. A list exported today from a database refreshed annually is wrong on one record in five, and the only way to know which is to verify the export.
Pattern-inferred addresses on catch-all domains pass the platform's check because the mail server accepts everything. In the BounceZero corpus 2.3% of non-freemail (business and ISP) addresses were catch-all, rising to 12.4% on .org and 13.6% on .us. They look like valid records in the export.
27% of non-freemail (business and ISP) addresses in the corpus could not be confirmed because ISP and corporate gateways block probes. A platform that reports every record as verified has made a decision about those addresses that you would not make yourself.
A plan with 1,000 export credits a month at 150 dollars is 15 cents per raw record and, at 75% accuracy, 20 cents per deliverable one. Compare platforms on cost per confirmed deliverable contact, which is the number verification gives you.

| Cut | Addresses | Invalid | Catch-all | Unknown | Confirmed valid |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Non-freemail (business and ISP) domains | 6,514,884 | 14.5% | 2.3% | 27.0% | 32.6% |
| .com | 2,158,955 | 16.4% | 4.4% | 14.7% | 59.7% |

| .org | 56,401 | 24.6% | 12.4% | 25.0% | 36.2% |
| .us | 10,998 | 34.1% | 13.6% | 21.9% | 29.1% |
| .uk | 21,194 | 17.0% | 3.7% | 10.6% | 65.0% |
| .ca | 7,561 | 15.9% | 6.2% | 13.9% | 54.4% |
| .au | 560,378 | 36.5% | 6.3% | 17.6% | 37.3% |
Australian and US-TLD lists carry the highest invalid rates; UK and Canadian lists the lowest among English-speaking markets. Price a platform's export against the market you are buying, not the global average.
Headcount, industry, geography, tech, triggers. Get the account list right before spending export credits on people; a wrong account wastes every contact under it.
Keep the LinkedIn URL and the company domain as columns. They are the keys for a second enrichment pass and for the LinkedIn steps in a multichannel sequence.
Send rows without an email to a second finder or a Clay waterfall. Two sources take the find rate from the low 70s to the mid 80s.
Bulk verification returns valid, invalid, catch-all and unknown per row, keeping every column. BounceZero's bulk tool takes the CSV as exported and refunds unknowns.
Valid to the cold sequence; catch-all and unknown to LinkedIn and phone; invalid deleted and claimed back where the platform refunds bounces. Within valid, order by fit and intent. The segmentation guide covers the next step.
Illustrative: 1,000 exported records from a self-serve platform at the mid-point of its accuracy range, with and without verification.
| Scenario | Platform cost | Verification cost | Deliverable contacts | Cost per deliverable |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Platform A, 1,000 credits, 76% accuracy, no verification | \$150 | \$0 | 760 (but you do not know which) | \$0.20, plus 240 bounces on the domain |
| Platform A, 1,000 credits, verified | \$150 | \$3 (Starter rate) | 760 identified; 240 removed | \$0.20, zero bounces |
| Platform B, 1,000 credits, 85% accuracy, verified | \$250 | \$3 | 850 identified | \$0.30, zero bounces |
| Platform A plus second finder on misses, verified | \$165 | \$3 | 830 identified | \$0.20, zero bounces |
The verification line costs 1 to 2% of the platform line and converts a guess about which 240 records are dead into a list. The second-finder pass is usually better value than the pricier platform.

For most teams, Apollo for breadth and price, Cognism or Kaspr for Europe, ZoomInfo for enterprise org charts, and Sales Navigator with an export tool when the people filters matter more than the database. Clay sits on top of any of them. Whichever you use, verify the export before it reaches a sequencer; the platforms return 65 to 85% deliverable addresses.
It depends on plan and vendor. Self-serve platforms sell credits, typically a few hundred to a few thousand exports a month; enterprise contracts negotiate bulk rights. Export caps, not database size, set the real cost per record, so compare plans on exports you will actually use.
They were checked when the record entered the database, which may be months or years before your export. B2B addresses decay fast, with only 19.2% of addresses still valid 90 days after verification in the BounceZero decay study. In a 100,000-contact study of one platform's exports, 5.8% of addresses were invalid at export and a further 18.4% were catch-all, an effective bounce exposure of 15 to 20% once catch-all bounce rates are counted. Verify at the moment of use.
Build, for anything you will use more than once. A built list from software matches your profile, carries the profile URL and domain for enrichment, and can be refreshed. A bought list is a static file of unknown age. If you buy, verify a 200-row sample first and expect to discard a third of most bought lists.
Re-run the filters monthly for new matches and job changes, and re-verify any record older than 90 days before it enters a new sequence. Re-verification before every send of the whole CRM keeps bounces under the 2% threshold mailbox providers enforce.
Upload the export, keep every column, get valid, invalid, catch-all and unknown back. 100 free checks a month, unknowns refunded.
