iiNet Addresses on Lead Lists
65.5% Unknown: What the 2026 Benchmark Says

iiNet is an Australian ISP mailbox. Across 64,161 iiNet addresses verified by BounceZero between April and October 2026, 2.8% were invalid, 12.4% catch-all, 65.5% unknown and 18.9% confirmed valid. Unknown dominates because the gateway defers probes.

iiNet: verification results against the benchmarks

Every iiNet address BounceZero verified for customers between April and October 2026, beside the corpus benchmarks. The remainder of each row to 100% is risky and role results.

Non-freemail includes consumer ISP mailboxes; a business-only cut is on the benchmarks page. Method and every other cut: Lead List Quality Benchmarks 2026. Risky and role on the iiNet row: 0.4%.

Why iiNet looks like this

iiNet runs a catch-all style gateway for a share of its customers and defers most other probes, so the result mix is dominated by unknown and catch-all. Confirmed invalid is low only because the gateway rarely says no. This is the Australian ISP most likely to accept a guessed address and bounce it later.

iiNet grew by acquiring smaller Australian ISPs and inherited a patchwork of mail systems, which is why its gateway behaves inconsistently: some mailboxes sit on a catch-all accept, others defer. The domain is common on Western Australian and South Australian SMB lists. Australia's Spam Act applies, and the catch-all share means a finder's guess at an iiNet address cannot be trusted without a test send.

Where iiNet sits among providers

On confirmed-invalid rate, iiNet ranks 26 of 29 providers in the corpus, just behind Gmail at 3.5%, ahead of Bluewin (Swisscom) at 2.4%.

On unknown rate, iiNet ranks 4 of 29 providers in the corpus, just behind PeoplePC at 85.8%, ahead of Luukku at 49.8%.

On confirmed-valid share, iiNet ranks 15 of 29 providers in the corpus, just behind iCloud Mail at 20.0%, ahead of SBCGlobal at 18.0%.

How to read these rates: they are BounceZero's probe outcomes on customer lists over April to October 2026, not a census of iiNet mailboxes. Unknown and catch-all measure what verification could not confirm, which depends on the provider's gateway policy during the window as much as on the addresses. The lists are the ones customers chose to upload, so segments dominated by a few large uploads carry their age and source. Method and limitations: benchmarks page.

Reading each result on iiNet

Unknown

iiNet defers the majority of probes, so unknown dominates. Plan the segment around a warm, low-volume send from a secondary domain and let the bounce report decide.

Invalid

At 2.8%, iiNet loses fewer addresses to hard failures than almost any segment; the ones that fail are typos and closed accounts.

Catch-all

Catch-all is the defining trait here: 12.4% of iiNet addresses accept anything, so finder guesses look valid and bounce later. Hold them out of cold sequences entirely.

Confirmed valid

Confirmed valid is 18.9%. Send to that slice from the primary domain and treat the rest of the iiNet segment as unreachable by cold email.

What to do with iiNet addresses on a list

Treat iinet.net.au catch-all results as unconfirmed. Send to them only from a secondary domain at low volume, and watch the bounce report closely for the first hundred sends.

Role addresses such as info@ and sales@ make up 0.0% of iiNet addresses in the corpus. Role addresses are rare here, as expected for a mailbox provider.

Frequently asked questions

What percentage of iiNet email addresses are invalid?

2.8% of 64,161 iiNet addresses verified by BounceZero between April and October 2026 were confirmed invalid, against 14.5% across non-freemail domains and 17.6% across freemail.

How many iiNet addresses return unknown, and what does that mean?

65.5%. Unknown means the mailbox could not be confirmed either way, usually because the gateway deferred the probe. BounceZero refunds unknown results; re-check after a week or use a second channel.

Is iiNet a catch-all domain?

Partly: 12.4% of iiNet addresses sat behind a catch-all accept, so the server took any address and the mailbox could not be confirmed.

What share of iiNet addresses are safe to email?

18.9% confirmed valid at verification time. Keep bounces under 2% and complaints under 0.3% on the send, and re-verify the segment before every send.
