TPG: verification results against the benchmarks

The TPG row is all 246,811 addresses verified in the six months to October 2026; the other rows are the benchmarks from the same corpus. Risky and role results fill each row to 100%.

Why TPG looks like this

TPG is one of the Australian ISP domains that make .au lists the weakest country segment in the corpus. Three in ten tpg.com.au addresses are invalid and almost one in ten sits on a catch-all configuration, so a bounce cannot be predicted from the probe. Australian consumer ISPs churn mailboxes when customers change plans.

TPG is one of Australia's largest consumer broadband providers and its mailboxes are tied to the service contract, so churn follows customer moves between TPG, Telstra and Optus. On Australian SMB lists the domain marks tradespeople and sole traders. Australia's Spam Act requires consent or an existing business relationship for commercial email, with a narrow exception for addresses published for business purposes, which makes the lawful basis the first question for this segment and the bounce rate the second.

Where TPG sits among providers

On confirmed-invalid rate, TPG ranks 8 of 29 providers in the corpus, just behind Netcom at 32.0%, ahead of Xtra (Spark) at 29.0%.

On unknown rate, TPG ranks 19 of 29 providers in the corpus, just behind Bbox (Bouygues Telecom) at 5.5%, ahead of iCloud Mail at 4.9%.

On confirmed-valid share, TPG ranks 6 of 29 providers in the corpus, just behind Live.nl at 57.3%, ahead of Hotmail Netherlands at 50.3%.

How to read these rates: they are BounceZero's probe outcomes on customer lists over April to October 2026, not a census of TPG mailboxes. Unknown and catch-all measure what verification could not confirm, which depends on the provider's gateway policy during the window as much as on the addresses. The lists are the ones customers chose to upload, so segments dominated by a few large uploads carry their age and source. Method and limitations: benchmarks page.

Reading each result on TPG

Unknown

Unknown is a rounding error on TPG at 5.1%; the gateway gives a clear answer and the verdict stands.

Invalid

More than one in 3 TPG addresses hard-fail. Use the domain as a staleness marker for the whole list, not just the segment.

Catch-all

8.9% of TPG addresses sit behind a catch-all accept. Those cannot be confirmed; send to them only from a secondary domain at low volume.

Confirmed valid

53.9% of TPG addresses confirmed as deliverable at verification time and can go straight to the primary sequence, with a re-check before every send.

Handling the TPG segment

Hold the catch-all share out of cold sends and route confirmed-valid contacts only. For Australian lists, budget for losing a third of ISP addresses on the first verification.

Role addresses such as info@ and sales@ make up 0.0% of TPG addresses in the corpus. Role addresses are rare here, as expected for a mailbox provider.

Frequently asked questions

What percentage of TPG email addresses are invalid?

30.1% of 246,811 TPG addresses verified by BounceZero between April and October 2026 were confirmed invalid, against 14.5% across non-freemail domains and 17.6% across freemail.

How many TPG addresses return unknown, and what does that mean?

5.1%. Unknown means the mailbox could not be confirmed either way, usually because the gateway deferred the probe. BounceZero refunds unknown results; on TPG it is rare enough to re-check once and move on.

Is TPG a catch-all domain?

Partly: 8.9% of TPG addresses sat behind a catch-all accept, so the server took any address and the mailbox could not be confirmed.

What share of TPG addresses are safe to email?

53.9% confirmed valid at verification time. Keep bounces under 2% and complaints under 0.3% on the send, and re-verify the segment before every send.
