A lead magnet is an asset offered in exchange for contact details: a free tool, a template, an original research report, a checklist or a short course. It generates marketing qualified leads at the top of the funnel. Magnets attract typos and throwaway addresses more than any other form, because the visitor wants the asset rather than a conversation; without validation at the form, 5 to 10% of magnet signups carry an address that was never going to work.
Magnets are measured by conversion rate from visitor to signup, then by the share of signups that progress to a qualified stage. A magnet with a 20% form conversion and a 1% progression rate is a mailing list, not a lead source. Free tools tend to outperform documents on progression because usage is a product signal.
Validation at the form fixes the input side. The real-time API rejects typos and disposable addresses before the record exists, and the confirmation email then reaches a real mailbox, which raises the confirmed rate downstream.
A deliverability checklist generates 1,200 downloads a month. Form validation shows 7% of attempted signups are typos or disposable domains, corrected or blocked at submission. Of the 1,120 that pass, 81% confirm their address and 60 later start a trial, a 5% progression rate that the unvalidated version of the form could not match.
Verify a list or a single address. 100 free checks a month, unknowns refunded.
