Lead qualification is the process of deciding whether a lead is worth pursuing, by checking it against criteria such as need, budget, authority and timing, usually in a conversation. It turns a marketing qualified lead into a sales qualified one, or disqualifies it. Frameworks give the conversation a structure; none of the common ones has a line for whether the email works, which is why reachability belongs in the score before the framework is applied.
Qualification output is binary per lead, qualified or not, plus the reason. The useful metrics are the qualification rate (SQLs over leads worked) and the disqualification reasons, which tell marketing what to stop generating. A rising share of "could not reach" disqualifications means the entry points need validation, not the reps.
The qualification guide compares BANT, MEDDIC, CHAMP and GPCTBA/C&I side by side and shows where each fits by deal size.
A rep works 120 leads in a month and qualifies 28. Of the 92 disqualified, 40 were poor fit, 34 had no timing, and 18 never answered a working channel. Verifying the 120 before they were assigned would have removed most of the 18 and given the rep 15% more time on the leads that could be qualified.
