A sales cadence is the planned sequence of touches a rep makes to a prospect across channels, with the timing between them: for example, email on day one, a call on day two, a LinkedIn connection on day three, a second email on day five, through to a break-up message around day twenty. Cadences typically run eight to twelve touches over two to four weeks. The verification result decides which channel leads: confirmed-valid addresses start with email, catch-all and unknown start with phone or social.
Cadences are measured by completion rate (prospects who receive every touch), reply rate by touch number, and meetings per cadence. Most replies arrive on touches two to four; cadences longer than twelve touches add complaints faster than replies.
An email sequence is the email-only part of a cadence, usually automated; the cadence as a whole includes the manual calls and social steps. The LinkedIn outreach guide covers the multi-channel pattern.
A ten-touch cadence runs on 400 prospects. Email-led for the 300 with confirmed-valid addresses, phone-led for the 100 flagged catch-all or unknown. Reply rate is 8% on the email-led group and 11% on the phone-led group, and the sending domain records a 0.3% bounce rate because no unconfirmed address was emailed cold.
